Ecology care


Reduction of negative impact on environment is the priority of UCG environmental policy. All Group enterprises have environmental programs which are developed and being implemented with the aim to improve environmental situation of the region and reduce emissions. Modern kiln filters which are installed at the plants comply with the European Union Standards.

In order to minimize pollution of environment and raise production efficiency United Cement Group developed and implemented investment program for holding’s plants modernization.

The investment program is directed to restore, reconstruct and modernize technological equipment and also implement more effective modern technologies in cement production.

Novotroitsk Cement Plant OJSC

In order to increase the efficiency compliance with environmental law, Novotroitsk cement plant has built and put into operation a new electrical filter of rotary kiln #1, the plant is also finishing construction of a new electrical filter on rotary kiln #2, has made replacement of electrical filters of two drying cylinders for bag filters, as well as improved the system of silos dust purging and loading on rail transportation.

At the moment there is in process the installation and commissioning of high performance closed circuit grinding (separators) systems on cement mill #6. In future, we will plan to design and install the  high performance closed circuit grinding (separators)  systems on cement mill #5.

Kant cement Plant OJSC

The key environmental measures at the plant are aimed at reduction of hazardous emissions into air. For that purpose it is planned to reconstruct electrical filters at three rotary kilns, reconstruction of filters at three cement grinding mills, capital repair of volume tanks at grinding stations.

Designing and installing of high performance systems closed circuit grinding (separators) on cement mill #7 and #8 are in the work process. Also planned a new technical construction for clinker burning on dry process.

Becabadcement OJSC

Environmental program was developed according to which installation of circulating water system for cooling of units is planned at Raw Material Work Shop, Burning Work Shop and Grinding Work Shop in order to improve efficiency of water utilization.  It’s planned to change the blow-down part of sack filters at two cement mills that is expected to reduce dust emission by 8% , to install gas analyzers, which will result in fuel economy , to install sack filters at silo of packing machine with expected reduction of dust emission by 15%. Besides it is planned to change electrical filters at rotary kilns and install highly effective separators at grinding cement mills.

Quvasaycement OJSC

The program includes capital repair of electrical filters of all rotary kilns with change of corona electrode, precipitating electrode in order to increase efficiency of electrical filters, change old electrical filters at three cement mills in order to reduce dust emission and ensure compliance with international environmental standards.
Designing and construction of a new station on bagged cement in 50 kg is on work process. Also planned a new technical construction for clinker burning on dry process.

Semey Cement Plant LLP

In order to efficiency upgrading compliance with environmental law a new electric filter on rotary kiln # 2 at the plant was built and switched into operation.

Environmental program of the plant includes reconstruction of electrical filters at two rotary kilns, installation of sack filters at cement grinding mills in order to gain high efficiency of dust collection and reduction of production loss of ready product, improvement of loading of cement into vehicle and railcar.
Besides it is planned to install highly effective separators at grinding cement mills.

Kuznetsk Cement Plant LLC

Environmental program was developed with aim to reduce hazardous emissions into air. For that purpose it is planned to reconstruct electrical filters at raw material mills, change electrical filters to sack filters at cement grinding mills, capital repair of electrical filters and improvement of system for preparation of raw materials through installation of additional cyclone heat exchangers at two rotary kilns. Besides it is planned to install highly effective separators at grinding cement mills.

Technolin LLC

The plant’s environmental program is aimed at improvement of the plant’s environmental indicators including repair of electrical filters of cement silos, improvement of dust collection system at cement grinding mills. Capital repair of electrical filters at rotary kilns is planned as well as installation of highly effective separators at cement mills.


The measures described above are not the only ones aimed at environment protection and environmental problems solving. The highest hazard in the technological process is hazardous gases from rotary kilns while burning clinker.
Consequently UCG pays special attention to reduction of emissions amount of such substances as cement dust, carbon oxide (CO2) as a result of calcining of СаСO3 when burning clinker, sulfur gases, nitrogen oxides. With the aim to reduce hazardous emissions company has developed a program in accordance with which it is planned to change and modernize electrical filters at kilns of all the plants within three years and to install highly effective separators at cement grinding mills.

Besides some aimed at improvement of environmental situation measures have already been fulfilled:

•    A new electric filter on rotary kiln #1 put into operation at Novotroitsk cement plant.
•    Electrical filters of two drying cylinders for bag filters made replacement at Novotroitsk cement plant.
•    The new electrical filter of rotary kiln #2 put into operation at Semey cement plant.
•    Overhaul of electrical filter on rotary kiln #2 was made at Semey cement plant.
•    Overhaul of bag filters on cement mill #2 and electrical filter on cement mill # 1 was made at Kant cement plant.
•    Overhaul of electrical filter on rotary kiln #4 was made at Kuvasay cement plant.
